Wildfire Smoke & Odor Cleanup

This is a fast moving 1-day class where you will want to take a lot of notes. The class was developed from losses that were successfully cleaned up and losses that ended up in a dispute. Managing smoke and chat particle fallout damage is different than managing a fire damaged structure. We will go through some of the reasons why cleaning up wildfire char and smoke is different. We will discuss how restorers can successfully complete their jobs, how to recognize job related pitfalls, and how to discuss problems with their customer.

   º The ins and outs of assessing wildfire damaged buildings and its property before smoke and char particle fallout cleanup.
   º The basics of pre-testing materials and surfaces affected by smoke and char particles to see if pollutants can be removed successfully before you take on the job.
   º Why it’s important to document every part of the smoke and char particle loss.
   º Understanding customer expectations.
   º How environmental professionals are expected to assess the loss, take samples, and write scope of work needed based on extent of smoke and char contamination.
   º What causes re-infiltration of smoke and char after job completion & what to do about it.
   º Importance of building inventory of contents, condition, and handling or cleaning needed.
   º How to manage char particle contaminated attics and ventilation systems.
   º What to do with char and soot contaminated lawns, patio furniture, roofs, driveway, and outside of building.
   º How to get clearance and closure and reduce your liability.
