"Water Damage Restoration"

We have had water damage occurring as long as the earth has been in existence. We have complicated it by adding millions of people and houses. Our history of water damage restoration does not go back that far but some history is useful in understanding the awesome responsibility that water restoration technicians take on when he or she enters a flooded structure. This book deals with what he or she is going to confront. It's going to be clear, gray or black water levels of contaminants. The health and safety issues for not only the occupant but the technician are overwhelming. The better the technician is prepared to respond quickly to a flooded structure the more likely it's going to be kept free of mold contamination

This book goes in depth with an understanding of Psychrometrics which is the scientific relationship between temperature, humidity and air flow. Wow, what an important process this is to understand in the drying of a structure. The correct equipment and chemicals and an understanding of the microbiology associated with a water loss is critical. It is that important because the uses of biocides and antimicrobials can also affect the health of all involved. Odor elimination is only one of the goals.

The understanding of the effects of water on flooring materials and the structural drying criteria will make or break a job. Beginning with the initial telephone conversation, followed by complete dirt to sky inspection determines the dry out procedure that will be used on the job. There are some major differences in setting up to do a clear water flood or one that contains raw sewage. Quick response combined with WRT training in structural drying will save time and money for all concerned.
